TORPEE-MAG - In and outlet of a reservoir

CUSTOMER

• Our customer is SWDE (Société Wallonne Des Eaux), the main water utility in the Walloon Region of Belgium.
• The application concerns one of SWDE's raw water reservoirs, which supplies a nearby paper factory with the water it needs for production.

 

TASK DEFINITION

• The paper factory draws large volumes of raw water from the reservoir as part of its production process, so SWDE needed an accurate, continuous measurement of that flow to fairly invoice the water supplied.
• Reliable flow data also lets SWDE keep an eye on the reservoir's outflow and inflow, allowing them to quickly spot any abnormal consumption or leaks.
• The water supply to the factory could not be interrupted, so the flow sensor had to be installed without cutting the pipe or shutting down the line.
• The metering solution needed to be integrated into SWDE's remote monitoring system.
• The installation also had to fit within an existing, fairly confined chamber alongside other pipework and cabling.

 

SOLUTION

• Installation of a DN600 TORPEE-MAG 1,5” full pipe multi-point electromagnetic flowmeter allowing installation through a ball valve without shutting down the flow
• The TORPEE-MAG is connected to a stationary converter, the TMC-20, displaying all information on an LCD screen and transmitting the data via Modbus to the SCADA system of the customer
• No calibration on site necessary
